BURNLEY have strongly denied that Second Division promotion rivals Bristol City have made a move for Kurt Nogan.

Sources in the West Country were today reporting that Ashton Gate boss Joe Jordan could be ready to make a bid for the unsettled Burnley star.

But Clarets assistant boss John Ward dismissed the speculation and confirmed: "We've had no approach for Kurt Nogan from Bristol City. We've not spoken to Joe Jordan about Kurt."

Meanwhile, the enthusiastic interest in the player shown by Scottish Premier League side Heart of Midlothian appears to have cooled over the past 48 hours.

Hearts had a representative at Turf Moor last weekend but manager Jim Jefferies has not yet followed up his interest.

Nogan had a successful two-day trial with the Tynecastle club but manager Adrian Heath said: "We haven't heard anything further from Hearts. It is all quiet."

Meanwhile, Heath turns his sights on tomorrow's crucial league game at crisis-club Bournemouth where Nogan will lead the Clarets attack alongside Paul Barnes. Burnley desperately need a satisfactory result after York dealt a hefty blow to the Clarets' promotion aspirations last weekend.

Heath said: "Our season starts at Bournemouth tomorrow. We have 45 points to play for and we intend to go out and try and win every game.

"It is not beyond us to go out and win our next four games on the bounce and if we did that then that would change the promotion picture completely.

"We had a great few days together at Keele University at the start of the week when we discussed all aspects of the season."

"Now my job is to convince the players that they can go out and still get promotion. I believe they are capable of doing just that."

With Gerry Harrison definitely ruled out and Paul Smith facing a late fitness test, Heath could be be forced to ring the changes.

"There is no doubt it will be a difficult game because Bournemouth's team and supporters seem to be rallying to the flag with the club in danger of going out of business, " he added. "It is up to us to go there and impose our game on them and come away with the right result."

Burnley will choose from: Beresford, Parkinson. Eyres, Swan, Brass, Winstanley, Hoyland, Matthew, Smith, Nogan, Barnes, Gleghorn, Thompson, Huxford, Weller, Russell (GK).

Bournemouth from: Glass, Young, Vincent, Beardsmore, Cox, Bailey, Holland, Robinson, Town, Fletcher, Brissett, Murray, Howe, Cotterill.

The A team are due to take on Oldham Athletic at Gawthorpe tomorrow (11.00 am). The B team are away at Marine Youth.

A Sky Sports 3 camera team will follow the Colne Clarets on their long-distance coach journey to Bournemouth tomorrow. The feature will be shown as part of the Sky Nationwide League round-up next Thursday.

There will be NO terrace accommodation available to Burnley fans at Dean Court. Instead, Clarets' fans have been allocated 790 seats. Adults (£8.50), conc (£4.50). All pay on the turnstiles.
