FAR from 'malfunctioning and literally bankrupting the town' (Walt Meadows, LEt, January 31), the 'nasty' Socialist council of Blackburn were given special praise for their planned capital programme.
Also, the annual check of accounts and balances were given a clean bill of health by independent financial experts.
Moreover, the creditors verdict was: "the council achieved good practice in achieving economy, efficiency and effectiveness in a number of areas."
I'm sick of Walt Meadows' everlasting griping at our council and congratulate the members of it on their job well done.
C BAKEWELL, St James Road, Blackburn.
