BURNLEY Mechanics has teamed up with the Lancashire Evening Telegraph to promote events on the Internet.

Net-surfers tapping into the East Lancashire Arts and Entertainments Centre web site, part of the service provided by Newsquest owners of the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, can now find out just what is happening at the entertainments centre.

For the winter season alone, almost 3,000 Internet users have hit on the Burnley events site with inquiries from as far away as America and New Zealand.

Mechanics' publicity manager Jacqui Livesey said: "Opening up an Internet site to promote Mechanics' events in Burnley is quite an innovation on our part.

"It's a communications tool that we feel will grow immensely in the future, and one that we want to be involved in.

"It's great to know that so many people are interested in what's happening at the Mechanics."
