A PROGRAMME of seminars has been arranged during the Blackburn Means Business exhibition to introduce industry to the use of telematics in the business world.

Telematics is the merging of computers and communications, which is helping to speed up communications around the world.

Video conferencing is a classic example of how business people can have face-to-face conversations with someone on the other side of the world, or just down the street, without leaving your desk.

Training 2000 and Lancashire Enterprises will be demonstrating this technology on their stands, during the exhibition.

The seminar programme opens at 2.15pm, with a presentation by N-P Graphics, using the latest multi media projector, to show how the Internet, and web page design in particular, can influence buyers.

The N-P Graphics team will be available throughout the day to discuss their services in more detail. At 3.15pm, Internexus Telecommunications, the Blackburn-based Internet access provider, will be demonstrating the Internet as a research tool, showing how you can study your market place from your desk by accessing world-wide information sources, for the price of a local call.

Additionally, Internexus will be offering special business packages at its stand.

Tech Solutions will take the stand at 4.15pm to give a demonstration on utilising the power of computers in technical design, which you can discuss with their specialists on the stand during the day.

Closing the seminar session will be Dr Neil Bradshaw of Lancashire Enterprises, who will give an overview of the emerging information society and what it offers to generate competitive advantage at low cost.

The discussion will cover information, new communication tools, information gathering, winning and keeping customers and what strategic options are available to small or medium-sized companies and what they cost, as well the support available for Lancashire companies.
