AN elderly neighbour had a chip pan fire. We rang the fire brigade and they attended within five minutes.
They put out the fire, comforted my neighbour and when everything was in order left the scene saying that if they got chance they would return in the morning to repair any damage.
They did indeed return, cleaned the cooker, did some painting and bought my neighbour a new kettle. They checked she then had two smoke alarms fitted and offered her safety advice.
The aftercare service must have given my neighbour great comfort. Thank you Blackburn Fire Brigade.
