KEVIN BOOTH'S alarming error cost Leigh RMI dear at the weekend.

The sub, on for Mick Charlton, tried to dribble his way out of trouble on a muddy pitch when he was caught in possession.

Droylsden took their chance to make it 3-2 with just five minutes to go.

RMI desperately tried to get back, and in the dying seconds a great run and strike by Chris Shaw saw the ball in the back of net. Joy! But the effort was denied by an offside flag.

Promotion-chasing RMI had a torrid first half and were two goals down after only 25 minutes.

RMI, who had former Rotherham midfield player Martin James making his debut, pulled one back when Steve Shaughnessy followed up to score after Shaw's header bounced back off the keeper's legs.

And they dominated the second half, equalising when skipper Mark Schofield chested down Graham Hill's flick on from Mick Wallasey's free kick and volleyed home in the 70th minute.

"It is only the second time in the league we have conceded three goals in a game and the other time was also against Droylsden," said manager Steve Waywell.

"But once again individuals making mistakes have cost the team vital points

"There are still 19 games left of which 12 are at home. Although this was a setback, we are still well placed."

RMI U14s beat Deans Sports 3-2 with goals from Jackson and Birchall 2; MoM Parker; the U10s beat Parkwydnn Juniors 3-2 (David Leather, MoM Adam Thompson, Dean Pendlebury).
