A LANDMARK town centre pub is to be demolished, leaving Bury Folk Club without a home.

The Napier Inn in Bolton Street is due to be demolished within the next few months.

The site, owned by Thwaites Brewery, has been on the market for two years. It is believed a deal has been finalised earmarking it for offices.

Landlady Mrs Karen Mason confirmed she and her husband, Richard, would be moving out on March 11.

But Bury Folk Club is now appealing for alternative premises at which to hold their meetings.

Club spokesman Mr Alan Seymour said: "Bury Folk Club has been going for more than 30 years and for the last ten we have met at the Napier.

"A new meeting place is urgently needed if we are to continue."

A spokesman for Thwaites Brewery was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press on Thursday, Febuary 13.
