A BURY based campaign against plans to slash housing benefit is going national.
A meeting on Wednesday, February 12, helped forge links between the Bury Guest House Association and regional and national pressure groups.
The group are angry at Government plans to cap housing benefit payments to the same level as caps introduced last year for people under 25. They say the cap on under 25s is already causing serious problems.
Chairman Mr Joe Martin said they had joined with a number of groups to fight the cause, including the National Federation of Residential Landlords and the Federation of Small Businesses.
"We held a meeting in Collyhurst this week and now we will be campaigning across the county," he said. Last Friday the Bury association lobbied Bury North MP Alistair Burt for one and a half hours over the planned changes. He has promised to look into the proposals.
