BURNLEY constituency Labour Party say they have no need for positive discrimination after women clinched four out of five posts at this week's AGM.
Ladies became chairman, secretary, elections agent and youth officer. Only the treasurer's post went to a man.
"We have no need for quotas here," said another high-flying local Labour lady, Burnley council leader Kath Reade.
"It is a credit to the Labour Party that these top jobs have gone to women on merit.
"We have an excellent team that will work together to make sure Burnley is at the forefront of the next Labour government. My congratulations to all those elected."
The line-up is this. Chairman: Maureen Casey; secretary: Gill Harbour; treasurer: Peter Kenyon; agent: Carol Galbraith; youth officer: Martine Winder.
