PLANS for pioneering AIDS lessons at an East Lancashire secondary school were announced. Moorland High School, Darwen, was believed to be the first school in Lancashire to go ahead with the lessons.

Pupils were to be given advice on the killer disease and shown an anti-AIDS video as part of the school's health education programme.

Newsreader Jan Leeming was back at work six days after being attacked outside BBC-TV centre.
