DIRTY tricks dominated the dying stages of the knife-edged General Election campaign in East Lancashire. In Blackburn, a furious row erupted between Labour and Conservatives over allegations of racist taunts and intimidation.

Headteacher Roger Eckton was counting the cost after Billinge High School, Blackburn, was broken into for the 50th time in 18 months. Intruders stole £2,000-worth of equipment.
