MOVE over Kate, Naomi and Linda. There are new names on the catwalk now.

The women who staff Rossendale's Red Cross branch are turning 'supermodels' for a night to raise money for the charity.

Ranging in size from a slim 10 to a comfortable 18, the nine models will be showing off a complete collection of outfits for every occasion.

But the couture will not be haute. The clothes in the show tomorrow are straight from their own stock of secondhand garments which they sell in their shop on Burnley Road East, Waterfoot.

For months, Red Cross workers have been casting a professional eye over clothes donated by the public and holding back the best for the fashion show. By now they have collected around 50 outfits. Centre organiser Barbara Lord, one of the models, said: "We held a show like this five or six years ago and it was such hard work we said we wouldn't do it again.

"However, we changed our minds because it does raise a lot of money.

"We've got skirts, blouses, dresses, trousers and some beautiful suits as well as shoes and handbags.

"We're hoping that when people see the clothes being modelled, they will buy them."

Branch secretary Ann Hartley, another model, is providing the music for the catwalk performance. Also taking the floor is Molly Disley, local councillor and Red Cross worker.

The show, at the Regency Room, Waterfoot, will be opened by Coun June Forshaw, Rossendale's Mayoress. Tickets are now on sale in the Red Cross shop price 50p, but visitors can pay on the door.

Funds will also be swollen by a raffle, a cake stall and a crafts stall. And visitors will be able to browse through a rack of clothes from the shop.
