A POLICEMAN held hostage at gunpoint inside a police station managed to escape from his captor.
PC Bill Matthews, married with a young family, gave the gunman the slip after being held for nearly nine hours at Gloucester Police Station.
Police said the situation remained dangerous as the armed man stayed holed-up in the office.
The city centre was sealed off.
