THE boss of Norweb - which was slammed for its £138 million profits - defended its record.

Chairman Ken Harvey told shareholders the regional electricity giant cut fewer people off and charged less than other companies.

He claimed there were special reasons for the company's growth in profits and described the level of profits as appropriate for a company the size of Norweb.
