JUST one week after Pool boss Nigel Worthington lambasted his players for a terrible first half performance against Southend, they did it again on Saturday (Feb 28) when Fulham visited Bloomfield Road.

But this week Worthy can forgive them, due to a superb performance in the second period which saw a solid Seasiders earn their three points with a 2-1 victory.

The first half was a catalogue of missed passes and heavy defensive play, with breaks few and far between.

Chris Coleman, Fulham's £2.1 million centre half from Blackburn, added to the Tangerines' misery with an easy header from a Steve Hayward corner.

With the scoreline at 1-0, the crowd booed the Seasiders off the pitch at the interval with another defeat looking on the cards.

But the side that came back out for the restart, with Lydiate and Malkin substituted for Bent and Phillpott, played as a true team and worked for their three points.

Both Brabin and Preece claim the goal that put the home side level, but it didn't matter who scored - the result was all that counted.

However, Blackpool weren't finished yet.

In the 82nd minute Banks pulled off a save from Paul Peschisolido that he had no right to make.

John Hills - who must rate as one of Blackpool's best ever buys - was on his usual superb form and supplied the ball through the midfield to Phillpott on 85 minutes which allowed Clarkson to slot home the winner.

Brabin was also on top form, having a header cleared off the line and a shot just over the bar.

Blackpool have signed Manchester City striker Chris Greenacre on a month's loan.

The 20-year-old has finally been allowed to come to Pool after the arrival of Joe Royle at the beleaguered first division club.

League leaders Watford visit Bloomfield Road on Saturday (March 7) with a 24-point cushion over Blackpool.
