A MORECAMBE magician and his six-foot side-kick 'Woody Rabbit' have pulled a top entertainment prize out of the hat. Harvey Rush and his lovely assistant, Kathryn Russell, who dresses up as Woody the Rabbit, won the UK Children's Entertainer of the Year - a national competition held recently in Blackpool. The 'Magic of Harvey and Kathryn' is well known to children and parents across the region and won the coveted title during the Blackpool Magicians' Convention which featured jugglers, magicians, clowns and entertainers from across the UK.

Harvey said: "Our act is not at all traditional. It's very fast moving and slick and also uses some tricks more likely to be found in a show aimed at adults. The children in the audience definitely appreciated that but I think the main factor was streetwise Woody Rabbit - everybody loved him."

The couple have been working as professional entertainers for the last 10 years and as well as showing at clubs, theatres and other venues across the UK, they also spend about nine months touring Europe.

Bursting with self confidence after his amazing success, Woody Rabbit has hopped into the limelight with his own show which is set to tour local schools later this year.
