CHALLENGE Cup holders Saints are now the first Rugby League club to launch a licenced product, teaming up with Merseyside-based Mortons Dairies for a branded range of orange juice.

Saints have registered two official trademarks and the new style club logo will appear on the labels of Mortons' products for sale in shops.

Saints' Chief Executive David Howes explained: "Saints is the most popular and progressive brand name in the town, our registered trademarks now being instantly recognisable through extensive exposure on both terrestrial and satellite television.

"It is a logical extension of our marketing strategy to launch a licencing programme where the Saints name endorses suitable products reflecting the image of the club and the sport as being healthy and appealing to the family.

"The orange drink produced by Mortons Dairies dovetails that image and we are planning to follow up this history-making initiative by branding Saints on bottles of milk for shop sale.

"The link with Mortons, a Merseyside concern, further strengthens our role as a community club and we hope that this will be the forerunner of a series of branding operations."
