Bamber Bridge Bulldogs 30 Folly Lane 18 DESPITE the absence of several regular players, Bulldogs turned in a fine team display to overcome Folly Lane in an entertaining encounter at Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre.
Both teams deserved congratulations for overcoming blustery conditions to provide a fascinating match, the outcome of which was in doubt until the last five minutes, although Bulldogs managed to keep their noses in front throughout.
Virtually from the kick off Folly Lane showed a fair degree of skill at ball-handling and were kept at bay by a highly committed tackling display by Bulldogs who, for their part, looked incisive in attack.
Bulldogs eventually took the lead and the teams exchanged try for try until half-time, when Bulldogs led by eight points.
Special mention should go to Andrew Gregson whose work rate, both in defence and attack was phenomenal.
In the second half the pattern continued, with solid tackling from Bulldogs thwarting the Folly Lane attacks, although at one stage the points difference was reduced to four points until two late tries secured the victory.
Try scorers for Bulldogs were Andrew Gregson (4), Matthew Bickerton, Steven Wright and Martin Hewitt who also had one conversion.
