DETECTIVES are hunting three armed raiders who struck at a Whitefield supermarket.
The men, brandishing a sawn-off shotgun, machete and lump hammer, stole £4,000 from Kwik Save in Elms Square after ordering staff and shoppers to lie on the floor.
A dark-coloured car was used as a getaway following last Friday (February 20) night's robbery.
Police want to speak to anyone who saw the raiders enter or leave the premises or who saw any suspicious activity nearby involving vehicles.
The £4,000 was stolen from the shop tills, which were then smashed with the lump hammer.
During the incident, the Kwik Save manager was viciously kicked in the face.
Police say the thugs were dressed in black and also wore ski masks. The gunman was aged 18-25, 5ft 8inch tall and spoke with a Manchester accent.
Anyone with information can ring Det Sgt Geoff Cogswell at Whitefield CID on 856 8214 or freephone CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
