Collegiate 13 Ruskin Park 36 RUSKIN gained their biggest away win of the season thanks to a marvellous all round team performance.

Defending stoutly when needing to, and attacking at every opportunity when in possession, they finally overwhelmed a youthful Collegiate side, which currently occupies a middle of the table position in the next division down.

Ruskin opened the scoring with a third minute penalty by Pilkington, and followed it up with a 50-yard solo try by Ian Orford. Although Collegiate replied with an unconverted try almost immediately, another fine try, this time by Andy Thornber, gave the visitors a comfortable 15-5 half time lead.

Collegiate started the second half strongly, and this pressure was rewarded, when Paul Walsh kicked an easy penalty. Further home attacks were repelled by some fine tackling, at which forwards and backs alike excelled. Ruskin then upped the pace and a burst of three tries in ten minutes sealed victory. First Orford repeated his first half heroics, this time from 70 yards, then two neat passes from outside half Wood sent first Hull and then Craig over in the corner. Pilkington converted all three tries, with a masterly exhibition of kicking in windy conditions. A late Collegiate try by Bragg brought a little respectability to the scoreline.
