SILK Cut Cup holders Saints landed the tie nobody wanted when Monday's quarter-final draw pitched them against arch-rivals and hot favourites Wigan.

The terrace-packing clash, in which both coaches have a 100 per cent record in the competition, will be played at Central Park on Sunday, March 15, kick-off 1.45pm, and will be televised by BBC2. The match is not all-ticket and Saints will have 1500 stand seats for sale.

Wigan have not conceded a point in two previous rounds and are quoted at 5-6 to win the trophy and Saints at 5-1.

Saints will stage a Sporting Forum in the cabaret room on Friday, March 27, from noon. Speakers will be Eddie Hemmings and Mike Stephenson, and a three-course lunch is included in the price of £20. Tickets are available from Andy Foreman and Julie Hesketh on St. Helens 758269.

The Referees Society are holding a Super League draw in conjunction with Sky Sports, with the main prize being entertainment for two at a game hosted by Eddie and Stevo. Tickets price 20p are available from local whistler Steve Ganson.

Saints have asked the Rugby League for a ruling on the transfer fee to be paid by Halifax for Kevin O'Loughlin. Transfer-listed forward Dean Busby is to be allowed to go on loan.

Academy starlets Tony Stewart, John Hamilton, Mike Bennett and John Stankovitch have been selected in the Lancashire side to play France at Widnes tonight, Thursday. Danny Butler has withdrawn through injury.

The Past Players Association will hold a special evening at Knowsley Road on Wednesday, March 25, to mark the return from South Africa of Len Killeen, who played for Saints in the 1960s. Admission is free.

Academy League matches will be televised by Sky on Tuesday evenings in the forthcoming season.

Ex-Saints forward George Mann has joined his former skipper Shane Cooper in playing Rugby Union for Liverpool St. Helens.
