Surf shock for Pam WE'VE not clapped eyes on each other for more than a quarter of a century.

So Pam White almost fell off her swivel chair while surfing the Internet in Kansas City.

For there, on her computer screen, was an image of the thumb-nail picture of yours truly which graces the top of this cobwebby column each week.

Pam, who's lived in America for two or three decades, immediately contacted her dad, Wilf Beuden, former Newton police chief and retired High Street tobacconist, who is an old pal of mine from way back.

And so, Wilf has now been able to pass on the best wishes of Pam, who was among the most glittering of bright young things during the 'Swinging Sixties.'

It's good to hear that Pam, a Goldie Hawn look-alike, is as active and socially keen as ever, her job being to escort seriously rich American ladies - including the wives of top bankers - on luxury trips around the world.

A TOUGH job, I suppose, but somebody's got to do it!
