TWO teenagers waiting at a town centre bus stop were attacked by three youths demanding money.

The victims, both aged 16, were on their way home from St Helens College at about 4pm on Friday, February 20, when they were approached by the youths as they waited for the number 152 bus in Victoria Square.

One of the youths asked for 30p which he said he needed for his bus fare and when the students refused to hand it over, a shouting match ensued. Then one of the students tried to walk away but he was chased by a member of the gang who punched him in the head.

The other student was then grabbed by the other two gang members who searched his pockets before taking about £19 in cash.

The gang members all spoke with broad Liverpool accents and were about 16 or 17 years of age. The one who assaulted one of the boys was black, about 5ft 6ins tall with very short black hair and wore a white jacket.

Another was taller and wore a white baseball cap and black leather gloves, while the third was about 5ft 8ins tall.
