LANCASHIRE Lynx moved to the top of Rugby League's Second Division with an exciting 26-25 win at Workington yesterday.

Lynx were faced with a much tougher proposition than the last time they faced the Cumbrian outfit and didn't seal victory until the dying stages.

Kevin Tamati's men scored five tries to Workington's four with Parsley (two), Briscoe, Donno and Soloman all crossing and Jones kicking three goals.

The win takes Lynx top on points difference from Bramley with two games in hand as they chase the title and promotion.

Hull produced the shock of the season in turning the Super League table on its head to end Leeds' 100 per cent record.

The Sharks beat Graham Murray's men 22-10, with Graeme Hallas scoring a last-minute try to complete a personal haul of 13 points, to enable Wigan - impressive 28-12 winners at Bradford on Friday - to stay in pole position.

Both Halifax and St Helens emphasised their title aspirations with big wins while bottom club Huddersfield picked up their first away win of the season at Castleford's expense and Warrington and Sheffield fought out an 18-18 draw.

Hull's on-loan scrum-half Craig Murdock admitted he thought his side had blown a chance to end their seven-match losing streak.

The Sharks led 9-4 at half-time but tries either side of the interval from ex-Hull favourite Paul Sterling and Barrie McDermott had put the Rhinos on course for a 10th straight victory.

Murdock, whose loan spell from Wigan has three weeks left to run, said: "We threw it away last week against Halifax and when they went in front, I thought we'd done it again.

"But the lads dug deep and, though we didn't play superbly, we still got the two points and we had one or two more scoring opportunities that we might have taken."
