FIREFIGHTERS said farewell to retiring colleague Craig Steele at a summer barbecue.
Craig, from Belthorn, Blackburn, has decided to call it a day because of injuries he received tackling a blaze.
The retained firefighter was hurt when he fell through an attic roof at a house in Ada Street, Blackburn, hitting a door on the way down.
Craig hurt his back in the fall, which happened 18 months ago, and failed to recover completely from his injuries.
A spokesman for Darwen fire station said: "He is still able to walk but is in almost constant pain."
