SAINSBURYS today unveiled its multi-million pound plans for the redevelopment of Burnley's Prestige factory site.
The scheme will create 600 jobs, 450 retail related and 150 in business and construction work.
It will include a new Sainsburys retail store, a Homebase DIY centre, the refurbishment of the front of the listed building and the creation of a business and technology centre, possibly incorporating a cyber cafe.
It also features car parking, improved links to Burnley Central railway station and the refurbishment of the Adelphi pub, with a further smaller scale shop and restaurant scheme.
Plans and artists' impressions of the Sainsburys/Thornfield Properties plc scheme today went on show at the Sainsburys store in Church Street.
The display will remain in the store foyer until Sunday and for the following two weeks will be on view in Burnley Central Library.
People are being asked for their views on the proposals. Comment sheets are being provided and need to be submitted to Burnley Council planning office by August 17.
The Sainsburys scheme is in competition with one put forward by Castlemoor Securities Ltd which would also provide 600 jobs on the 11-acre site.
