COULD you possibly find space in the St Helens Star, to thank all the sponsors who have supported my efforts to raise money, through the St Helens and Warrington branch of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, for the Stroke Society based at Windle Pilkington House.
On July 31 the Cricket and Bowling Club of Ireland Road, Haydock, helped organise a charity event at the club and a grand total of £285 was raised.
Raffle prizes were supplied by local store keepers, restaurants, florists and a St Helens based dry cleaners plus other businessmen in the area, to make the evening a great success for the 200 or more people who supported the evening.
Entertainment including Tiny Ted, a Tommy Cooper impressionist, Keith Best, entertained us together with a disco which was supplied by Clive, the club's concert secretary.
The money, will be presented to the Stroke Society together with any other money which can be raised during my term of office.
Ronnie Lyon,
St Helens
