ANGRY nurses in East Lancashire were set to mount their first-ever strike next week - and deliver a piercing protest to visiting Junior Health Minister Edwina Currie.
Nursing staff were set to walk off the wards for two hours in Burnley and Rossendale hospitals. They planned to gather outside Burnley General Hospital to protest over the lack of progress in national pay talks.
