Lancaster had a 16 per cent increase following last week's A level results. Nationwide there was a four per cent drop.
Lancaster came out of the clearing process on August 24 after having admitted more than 2000 well qualified students to its degree courses. Admissions Officer Jess Gillison said that the clearing process was 'shorter and sharper' than usual.
The top ten research ranking and excellent teaching ratings have been cited for Lancaster's attraction, along with its facilities and safe campus location.
