VALE of Lune rugby club's bid to claim their rightful place in the premier division starts a week on Saturday away at Preston GH.
The club just missed out on promotion on the last day of the season last season - and still could have gone up when it emerged that promoted Blaydon had broken the rules.
But all thoughts of last year has now gone from the club at Powder House Lane who play their first home game against Percy Park on September 5.
Meanwhile the ladies are riding high after winning the division two north championship last year. Any women wishing to join the team - most players had never played before they came, and expert coaching is provided - should contact the club.
