OUTLINE plans have been submitted to St Helens Council for a commercial leisure scheme on land currently held by St Helens College.
The scheme has been put forward by the Manchester-based developer CTP Limited and illustrations submitted show a futuristic glass building which will include a multiplex Cinema, live entertainment venue and food and drink facilities. If given the go-ahead, the two-storey building will be developed on land at the bottom of Bridge Street/Chalon Way.
Keith McCormack, director of CTP, said: "As a St Helens resident, I am particularly delighted to be able to bring forward this scheme on a site in the heart of the town centre close to the former Savoy Cinema, where it will certainly add vitality to the town centre.
"There is a very strong level of demand from operators who are impressed with the location and the quality of the scheme we propose."
John Frodsham, St Helens College estates director, said: "The college fully supports the outline planning application for the scheme being submitted by CTP."
