IF you want to know what the Prime Minister had for supper just ask Rawtenstall take-away manager Chhanu Miah!

Chhanu, 26, secretary of Rossendale Bangladesh Welfare Association, was at his brother-in-law's restaurant in Bispham raising money for flood victims from their home country.

They invited Tony and Cherie Blair to attend the fund-raiser and were delighted when Cherie arrived and ordered 22 meals costing £185. Chhanu, of St James Row, Rawtenstall, is general manager at the Shanaz Take-Away.

He said: "Cherie was very friendly," he said. "She asked my seven-year-old nephew Shunel Alam what he liked and when he said tandoori chicken she said, 'Well that's what the premier and I shall eat.'

"She said she was very concerned about the plight of people in Bangladesh and happy to help the fund. The meal, for the couple and their entourage, was collected by security later that night and delivered to their suite at the Stakis Hotel.

The event at the Sunam Tandoori Restaurant raised £500 for the flood victims.
