A PENSIONER who broke her hip on holiday in Turkey hopes to come home on a special flight this weekend.

And her daughter has spoken of her relief at hearing her mum could be back in East Lancashire by the end of the week.

Elsie Greenhalgh, who lives in Oswaldtwistle, has been in a Turkish hospital since September 21, when she tripped as she got out of a taxi.

Mrs Greenhalgh was injured in the accident outside the apartment in Icmeler where she was spending a week with her husband Jack.

Now the couple are waiting to be flown back to England -- and will hopefully return in time for a double birthday celebration.

Mrs Greenhalgh's daughter, Janet Potter, had been worried her parents might not be home for at least another week.

But Green Flag Medical Insurers -- acting for London-based underwriters Home and Overseas -- are believed to have arranged for Mrs Greenhalgh to be jetted back on a stretcher with a nurse at her side. Mrs Potter said: "Mum and dad flew out on September 18 and were supposed to be coming back last Saturday. They had only gone for a week.

"But mum slipped getting out of a taxi on September 21 and has been in hospital ever since.

"The insurance company were having trouble finding a flight from Dalaman to Manchester because mum needs room for a stretcher, which could take up 10 seats.

"Now they're flying a nurse out to check if she's fit to fly. They've booked a flight for Saturday, depending on how she is.

"I've spoken to mum at the hospital. She's all right, but just wants to come home. It's mum's 64th birthday and my dad's 65th birthday in a couple of weeks.

"She's really pleased with the way she's been treated and I just thank God she's okay."
