A DRUNKEN teenager fell over and got her foot stuck in a car radiator grille, causing £42 worth of damage, magistrates heard.

Restaurant owner Abdul Malik, who had parked the car near his business in Haslingden, helped Kelly Pilling to her feet and extricated her foot but called the police when he realised how drunk she was, said Lesley Williams, prosecuting at Rossendale.

When an officer spoke to Pilling, she was abusive and slapped him twice across the face. She was extremely drunk and having difficulty standing, said Mrs Williams.

At the police station she laughed throughout the interview and said she had had a liquid breakfast and been drinking all day.

Pilling, 19, of Ribble House, Haslingden, admitted being drunk and disorderly and criminal damage.

Phillip Whittaker, defending, said Pilling was jobless and celebrating receipt of her giro. He told the court the girl was not used to drinking and had no recollection of events.

The magistrates conditionally discharged Pilling for 12 months, ordered £60 costs and £42.10 compensation.
