BURNLEY duo Chris Brass and Steve Morgan are expected to make a dramatic return to action in tomorrow night's reserve team match against Grimsby at Turf Moor.

The Clarets pair have been sidelined since September with cartilage injuries but manager Stan Ternent confirmed they are definitely in line for a comeback tomorrow.

The news comes as a massive boost to the Burnley boss whose injury problems mounted after Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Macclesfield in which Peter Swan and Gordon Armstrong both picked up knocks.

"Steve Morgan and Chris Brass will feature in some capacity in the reserve game. Maybe they'll get half a game," said Ternent.

"It's a great boost to have them both back because they've returned a bit quicker than we expected."

The versatile Morgan picked up the injury in only his fourth appearance of the season while Brass has been out since the Wigan game at the end of September.

Meanwhile, midfield duo Mark Robertson and Paul Smith were set to undergo scans today on the knee injuries they picked up in the 1-0 win over Oldham last week to assess the extent of the damage. Swan is currently having treatment on the calf strain he picked up at Macclesfield at the weekend in a race to be fit for Saturday's game at home to Wrexham.

And midfielder Matt Heywood is struggling to shake off a bout of 'flu which ruled him out half an hour before kick off at Moss Rose.

On the long term sick list, Mark Ford is only a couple of weeks away from a playing return while Ronnie Jepson and Neil Moore are also making good progress and could be back in contention soon.

Ternent has still to decide on how to cope with the loss of Andy Cooke through suspension for the game against Wrexham on Saturday.

Cooke also faces a further three match ban following his red card at the weekend but the Clarets chief will wait for the referee's report before opting whether or not to fine him.

"I'm not going to do anything until I've seen the report. But what I do decide is an internal matter between me and Andy Cooke," said Ternent.
