New building contractors are being sought by the council to carry out large-scale programmes of renewal and improvement in the Central, Stoneyholme and Daneshouse areas.
It will involve improving the stone-built terraced properties, including stone cleaning, remedial work and the replacement of windows and doors, together with re-roofing, rebuilding work to chimneys and improving rear yards.
Coun Rafique Malik, chairman of the housing and community services committee, said: "Contracts generally fall within the range of £50,000 to £40,000."
