A FAIRYTALE story was more fact than fiction when two lovestruck teachers played Cinderella and Prince Charming in the staff pantomime at Mount Carmel High School, Accrington.

Head of maths Bernard Mooney and English teacher Rachel Harper, who took the romantic lead roles in the production, are set to marry in July. Teachers even changed the name of the panto to Harperella, and renamed the leading male role Mooney Charming!

Miss Harper has taught at the school for six years while Mr Mooney has been teaching maths there for three years. Art teacher Marie Alveston said: "It is the fifth year we have run the staff pantomime and it is always a success. It's a chance for the children to have a laugh and watch the teachers making fools of themselves!"

Rachel is pictured above with Fred Bentley, who played her fairy godmother.
