AN INQUEST into the death of a 28-year-old Pendle man was opened and adjourned to allow his funeral to go ahead.
Mark Antony Turner, of Princess Street, Nelson, was pronounced dead at Burnley General Hospital on Monday.
A post mortem examination was carried out, but the results of toxicology tests to establish the cause of death are not expected for several weeks.
Mr Turner's mother Sandra Whiteman, also of Princess Street, told the inquest at Burnley magistrates court that her son had recently started injecting heroin.
The hearing was told Mr Turner married in April this year and moved into a house in Hibson Road, Nelson. Six weeks ago he separated from his wife.
Mrs Whiteman said she saw her son in the street a week ago but he ignored her. "That was the last time I saw him alive," she added.
East Lancashire coroner David Smith adjourned the hearing pending the results of the toxicology tests.
