BLACKBURN Rovers have been unlucky with injuries of late, but they have also had too many sendings off and suspensions.

There is no excuse for this. Footballers on up to £20,000 a week should have more discipline.

When this happens, they are no use to the club, the supporters or anyone else. Except perhaps themselves. Must be great to have three weeks off when the weather is bad.

Unfair decisions even themselves out over time. Apparently, Gary Lineker was never sent off. He was a credit to the game and is still highly regarded.

I suggest it should be in players' contracts that they get no wages when they are suspended. Losing upwards of £60,000 should be some deterrent.

Maybe they could also automatically be demoted to the reserves for a spell. Whatever the punishment, drastic measures are needed to stop the rot in football.
