A BAXENDEN lorry driver told how he escaped being engulfed in the Lockerbie fireball by yards as the Pan Am plane exploded just behind him on the A74.
Stephen McLeister ran back towards the blazing dual carriageway, which was covered in several inches of burning soil, to help an injured motorist.
