A BUMPER response to a Christmas toy appeal for needy families was reported by the Rotary Club of Blackburn when they held their last meeting of 1998 at Miles House Restaurant, Ribchester.
Food parcels donated by members have been delivered to 56 families in the community and 86 bowls of hyacinth bulbs are also being distributed to housebound elderly people.
Two large hampers from Express Gifts of Accrington have been given to the THOMAS project run by Father James McCartney in Blackburn.
The annual Christmas message, given by the Rev David Ashworth, vicar of St Leonard's, Balderstone, was about festive traditions.
