A WONDER-strike from Steve Bushell sank Sam Allardyce's Notts County at Meadow Lane on Saturday (Feb 13) for Blackpool's fifth away win of the season.

And Bushell's fifth minute goal was the highlight of his superb performance.

Throughout the match he was an absolute menace to County and blasted a volley at the keeper on 65 minutes.

And it was back to the old routine with Clark Carlisle playing up front and Junior Bent at left back.

Not even playing out of position could upset the Tangerines on Saturday as they tore Notts County to shreds. Passing and smooth running stood the Seasiders in good stead in the first half and the three points were a welcome reward for all the hard work.

Adam Nowland played his heart out up front, latching on well to Clarkson's teasing through balls and crafty passes.

But what was even more impressive was the way the defence held solid throughout.

Ian Hughes and Tony Butler looked as experienced as the in-form David Bardsley and none of them could be singled out as the best player in defence - their teamwork helped take the points.

Notts County did manage to muster some threatening attacks of their own, but Blackpool were strong enough to hold them off the majority of the time.

The start of the second half was a tough test with County building the pressure - which ultimately came to nothing.

Steve Banks was called on to make a few saves - one a lethal looking 12-yard shot from Gary Jones.

And, as usual, the Seasiders were on their heels for the last five minutes - striking fear into the hearts of their travelling fans.

Tony Butler made the obligatory last-ditch tackle in the 90 minute.

On the pitch matters are looking more and more impressive after the Seasiders' recent lull and let's hope that the politics of the club can now follow suit.

On Saturday (Feb 20) Blackpool play host to Lincoln City at Bloomfield Road.
