THE funeral takes place today, February 19, of a former Holcombe Brook man who died in a car crash.

Student Scott Irving was killed when his Vauxhall Corsa car went out of control and ploughed through a fence on Honlea Road, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, on Saturday.

Scott (21), who was a part-time care worker, was in his first term at Huddersfield University where he was studying science-related subjects.

He had lived with his parents Stephen and Julie at their home in Edgworth.

Scott (pictured below) had been brought up in King Street, Radcliffe, and Mayfield Close, Holcombe Brook, before moving to Edgworth.

He had attended Chapelfield County Primary School, Radcliffe, and Bury Catholic Prep School.

After a short term at Bury Grammar School, Scott finished his education at Tottington High School.

He later took his A-levels at college in Bury before going to Huddersfield University.

His grandmother, Mrs Jessie Irving, who lives in Radcliffe, said: "He was very much loved by all his family."

He had also been a keen cyclist and water skier.

The funeral takes place at St Anne's Church, Chapeltown, at 11.15am followed by interment in the church grounds.
