West Sutton 32 Ulverston 28 WEST Sutton produced their best performance for some time to overcome a strong Ulverston team.

But the game started badly for Wests when Ulverston scored an unconverted try.

And from the resulting scrum, the ball was moved with speed along the line for wingman David Fairclough to touch down in the corner. Greg Stubbs converted from the touchline.

And after 10 minutes of further pressure Ulverston conceded two tries scored by Ste Dudley and Alan Whitrow one converted by Stubbs. With half time approaching Ulverston converted a penalty which resulted with J McCabe spending 10 minutes in the sin bin.

Ulverston came out in a determined mood in the second half and quickly scored a converted try to come right back in the game.

The Wests line was under pressure with only good tackling from S McNamara, C Simm, Atherton and Binns keeping the line in tact.

After 20 minutes Wests broke the deadlock to score two cracking tries one by Ste Dudley and one by hooker Daz Atherton. Both were converted by G Stubbs. However with 15 minutes remaining Wests lost two players in the sin bin this allowed Ulverston to get back into the game quickly scoring two tries both converted. Full-back Craig Jones came to Wests' rescue with a sensational try when he side-stepped a through no less than six defenders to score a try in the corner.

Ulverston scored an unconverted try right on time.

Wests were well served by A Willburn, S Dudley, D Atherton and full back Jones in a good all round team performance.
