JOHN Lund launched his bid for the 1999 World Stock Car Championship with podium place at the Coventry International Speedway stadium.
The Rimington farmer brought his brand new Kramar Chevrolet V8 home in second place on the final race of the night, the Grand National.
Victory went to his rival and 1998 champion Frankie Wainman Junior.
