Morecambe 2 Kidderminster 1 MORECAMBE are finally and unequivocally safe after this result.

In truth their future in the Conference has not been in doubt for the past fortnight.

But real football fans never really sleep well until there is security is beyond even the most outlandish of mathematical possibilities.

Morecambe were good for this victory in front of a home crowd of just under 1,000 despite a nerve-wracking ending.

Morecambe scored twice in the first half through goals from Stewart Drummond and Kenny Takano.

Shrimps scored after just six minutes. He collected the ball in midfield and knocked it through for Barrie Keeling on the left wing. He took it on and crossed for Darren Lyons who passed to John Norman who made a subtle pass for Drummond to hammer home.

Takano's goal was a stunner after 30 minutes. With the ball at his feet he turned from Craig Hinton on the left of the penalty area before hitting a shot which seemed to curl and dip into the net.

Two goals up and Morecambe might have thought they could relax a bit. If so they were badly mistaken. Kidderminster scored just before the break Stewart Handley heading home.

Morecambe started the second half well but faded and Kidderminster had some good chances.

Team: McIlhargey, Fensome, Brown, McKearney, Hall, Burns, Lyons, Drummond, Keeling (Curtis 59), Norman (Mayers 59), Takano (Gardner 78).

Morecambe are away to Forest Green tonight (Thursday).
