IT'S official! Bury's Millennium Mayor is to be Elton ward councillor John Costello.
His nomination was ratified at Wednesday's full council meeting. The Labour councillor, who lives in Westgate Avenue, Holcombe Brook, has represented Elton for almost nine years.
He will carry on working as a teacher while fulfilling his civic duty.
Councillor Costello takes over the mayoralty in May from the borough's current first citizen, Coun Mrs Connie Fitzgerald.
