I WOULD like to voice my disappointment at the behaviour I witnessed on Sunday, July 11 at the charity concert Last Night of the Proms on Lytham Green.

The weather was beautiful, the atmosphere fantastic, the music superb and the fireworks dazzling.

Our party felt the entrance fee of £16.50 was a small price to pay for such a wonderful evening - especially as it was in aid of such a good cause.

However, we were disgusted to see the huge numbers of people pressed against the fences and even climbing into the grounds to avoid paying.

Such was the audacity of these people that they felt it fit to bring tables, chairs and even set up barbecues - while giving verbal abuse to charity workers attempting to raise some funds from those enjoying the 'free' show.

I accept that some people, while enjoying classical music, would be unable to pay the entrance fee but their attitude towards those collecting - who were giving their time and effort for free to help others - was appalling.

It is to be hoped that the money which was raised will be enough to encourage those involved to hold further events as special as that night.
