BUDDING poets are being given the chance to have their work preserved in wood for all to see - courtesy of the St Helens Ranger Service.

Anyone who has written a poem with an environmental theme can take it along to the Poet Trees Sculpture at Ashtons Green Open Space, Parr on Tuesday, July 27 between 10am and 3.30pm and Tuesday, August 3 between 1 and 4pm, where Rangers will help them to carve it.

The Rangers also presenting the popular Bike Hike on Wednesday, July 28 at 10am at the Sankey Valley Visitor Centre. This is an all-day, 16-mile bike trip from St Helens to Warrington and back along the Sankey Valley Park to view the various Mersey Forest initiatives en route. Cycle safety equipment is advised.
