A BIRMINGHAM woman is appealing to Morecambe people to help her recover a precious photo album and other personal items stolen by callous thieves in the resort.

Barbara Flower, 56, was returning with her husband from a holiday in Northern Ireland and stayed in Morecambe overnight. The couple returned to their silver Peugeot which had been left in a pay & display car park behind the Ashlea Hotel on Church Street.

Mrs Flower told the Citizen "I saw the statue of Eric Morecambe and all the flowers and I thought how lovely it was. However, I won't be back."

"These thieves even stole my nephew's jelly babies and pots of jam." Mrs Flower also had a video of her recent retirement party after thirty years as a steward at Lucas Aerospace stolen. She added "I've never had any children and my work was my life. They should have closed circuit TV on these car parks."

Mrs Flower says she has already warned friends in the midlands about her experiences in Morecambe. She said "I certainly won't be visiting Morecambe again" adding "This is the first time I've travelled from Heysham. If I use this ferry again I'll just be getting straight on it."

Police say the goods stolen include two 7ins Beleek suitcases and a china vase in cream with 25th engraved in silver - Mr and Mrs Flower had just celebrated their silver wedding anniversary.

A £200 reward is offered for information leading to their recovery. The police can be contacted on 63333.
